Al-Qaida was planning attack on Obama

Osama bin Laden was plotting to kill US President Barack Obama and Gen David Petraeus, Commander of US forces in Afghanistan, a media report said, citing information obtained from the material seized from Abbottabad-compound of the slain al-Qaida leader. Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan show that al-Qaida spoke of attacking President Barack Obama and Gen David Petraeus," CNN said quoting sources familiar with the materials recovered from the compound.

The documents refer to an attack that would destroy the aircraft carrying Obama and Petraeus in the Af-Pak region. Al-Qaida to attack the president and Petraeus, who will be departing soon as the US military commander in Afghanistan, it said. The former leader of Al Qaeda wanted to shoot down the U.S. President’s jet Air Force One during a trip abroad.

Materials taken from bin Laden's compound have confirmed that he communicated with the Yemen-based al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, CNN said, quoting a US official, familiar with the ongoing analysis of the documents. Osama bin Laden was planning a terrorist outrage to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with Barack Obama number one on his hit list.
He also wanted to murder General David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, and was still obsessed with using planes to carry out terror attacks.

The terror chief had already begun putting a team of militants together for the attack, according to communications seized by Navy Seals from his Pakistani lair. The plan was to shoot down Air Force one or Marine One, the President’s helicopter, whilst it was in mid-flight by firing a missile or rocket propelled grenade from another aircraft.Former FBI agent Brad Garrett said that despite improvements in security the plan to hijack a small jet and fly it into a sports stadium could work.

Counter-terrorism staff from half-a-dozen U.S. agencies have now raked over the entire bounty collected from the raid, but have had little success extracting any concrete leads from the documents.'The treasure trove has not led to any big takedowns, because the bad guys knew we had it and adapted,' a senior U.S. official told the Journal.
Since the 11 September 2001 attacks al-Qaeda and its allies had moved into the remote Pakistani frontier areas, President Obama said.'Pakistan's government must be a stronger partner in destroying these safe-havens, and we must isolate al-Qaeda from the Pakistani people,' he demanded.

Obama said Pakistan must demonstrate its commitment to rooting out al Qaeda within its borders. The Obama administration has faced significant difficulties repatriating them or finding other places to send them due to concerns about al Qaeda in Yemen.

Obama Gives Lawmakers 24-36 Hours On Debt Debate

America President Barack Obama gave lawmakers 24 to 36 hours to finalize the path forward for raising the debt ceiling during the latest high-stakes White House meeting on Thursday. The president told attendees, according to the notes of a Democratic official. "We need concrete plans to move this forward."the Aug. 2 debt ceiling deadline approaches, Obama and congressional leadership from both parties met for their sixth straight day of talks. There were no verbal altercations between the president and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, as there had been the day before. In fact, multiple Democratic sources relayed that Cantor barely spoke.

the attending parties went through the four or so options that remain on the table, with respect to resolving the ever-winding debt ceiling saga. The president again pushed leaders to consider the biggest package possible, one that includes trillions in spending cuts, entitlement reforms and added revenues to help round out the deal.Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who earlier in the day had warned lawmakers that the government was "running out of time" to negotiate, again stressed to attendees the perils of not just failing to raise the debt ceiling but of not reducing the nation's deficit and debt. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), meanwhile, reiterated his position that the administration's approach was insufficient for resolving the nation's debt problem. "He continued to press the White House to get serious about reducing spending in a meaningful way," a Republican aide said.

Obama informed those in the room that he may call another meeting during the weekend if he "hasn’t heard back from them with a plan of action," a Democratic official said. The minority and majority leader have been working on a proposal that would take the $1.5 to $1.7 trillion in agreed-to cuts and attach it to legislation that would give Obama the authority to raise the debt ceiling while simply suggesting (but not signing off on) additional spending cuts. The proposal, a Democratic official said, received "very little discussion" at Thursday's meeting. "However, this remains a fallback option."

Weird News for Lizard Man in South Carolina Couple's Car

A Lizard Man 7 feet tall with glowing red eyes, a scaly body and three-fingered hands, and has a nasty habit of biting, ripping and pulling apart car fenders, hood ornaments and radio antennas. Some local citizens think it could be the work of the infamous Lizard Man of South Carolina.the car owners, Leon and Ada Marshall, discovered that their vehicle was riddled with what appeared to be teethmarks that went completely through the fender, according to WLTX television.

The sighting of the Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp (also known as The Lizard Man Of Lee County) was a major media event. First with one sighting and then others, it was said to be a humanoid cryptid, perhaps a merbeing, inhabiting areas of swampland in and around Lee County, South Carolina. The Lizard Man was described at the time as being quite tall, bipedal, and having what appeared to be scaly skin and glowing red eyes. In the popular media rendering, it was said to have three toes on each foot and three fingers on each hand that end in long black claw-like nails.

The first reported sighting of the Scape Ore creature occurred on June 29, 1988, but was soon followed by others, including information that was revealed about an earlier sighting in 1987.Between 1985 and 2002, despite my keen awareness that reptilian-styled creatures were reported in this country, I was not ready for how significant and sensationalized the whole topic would become with merely one case from South Carolina in 1988.

Intrest News Harry Potter by numbers

The speaker is Graham Foulkes, whose son David was murdered six years ago today in the London b2ombings. The people who make the dark even darker are the News of the World. It now seems clear, after years of smokescreens and foot-dragging by News International, the paper’s publisher, that the private conversations of ordinary men and women like Mr Foulkes were hacked into for profit. The most desperate, grief-stricken people imaginable are on the list of the NoW’s victims, which is lengthening by the hour.

In a carefully worded statement, News International’s chief executive, Rebekah Brooks, reminded us how proud she is of the successful campaigns at the NoW. “The battle for better protection of children from paedophiles and better rights for the families and the victims of these crimes defined my editorships,” she said.
Actually, yes I am counting. I've already been to the school Web site, twice, to find out when school starts. I knew I was in trouble on the evening of Monday, June 20, when my daughter, the youngest child, turned to me and said, "I'm bored." She had been out of school, if you don't count the weekend, all of one day.
My daughter is signed up for several weeks at a program in Portsmouth that she seems to like. In addition, she goes to a yoga class in August and I usually take vacation the last two weeks before school starts, so we should be able to muddle through.

News for Rahul Gandhi challenges Mayawati on home turf

Rahul Gandhi marches on in Uttar Pradesh, visiting villages along the under-construction Yamuna Expressway from Noida to Agra, the BSP has said "his theatrics won't revive the Congress" in the state. BJP's UP in charge Uma Bharti also did not miss the opportunity to slam his visit and said it will not bring any change. She also blamed the Centre for wrong policies.

Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code - which bans any gathering of five or more persons - was still in force in the area. But a defiant Rahul crossed Gautam Budh Nagar to enter the Aligarh district late on Wednesday as his kisan padyatra entered its second day.
He was told he could not garland the iconic statue of Dr B R Amebkar in Mayawati's constituency of Ambedkar Nagar. So Rahul Gandhi showered petals on the leader's statue in Parliament in Delhi, and then headed to battle the UP Chief Minister on her home turf.
He had trudged around 25 km on foot covering five villages starting from Bhatta-Parsaul. Late in the evening, he halted at the Rampur Bangar village in Gautam Budh Nagar district where he stayed and dined at the house of former village head Kalicharan Sharma.
He reached the village around 7.30 am and interacted with the farmers there.
Rahul wrapped up the meetings by 11.45 am but had to postpone the ' power walk' after it started to drizzle. He resumed the padyatra around 4 pm and crosses on to Aligarh district, entering Budaka village.
Rahul plans to reach Aligarh by Saturday. There, he has called a kisan mahapanchayat. But Aligarh is still 55 km away and reaching the place on foot in three days seems like a tall order for the Congress general secretary, given his speed.
Addressing a well attended meeting of party workers before flagging off 10 statewide ‘sandesh yatras’ (awareness march) to commemorate Congress' 125 years of establishment, Rahul alleged that the Mayawati government was not interested in the development of dalits.
Gandhi then set loose upon the state's 403 constituencies a series of specially-constructed raths that his party hopes will symbolize ten state-wide yatras. Congress leaders will roll into different parts of UP to woo voters.

Mayawati is not unaware of this feeling of abandonment. She has indicated recently that close to 40 Brahmin MLAs will not get tickets in the next election.

Next for Casey Anthony: Freedom, book deals

"Nancy Grace" at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday as Nancy Grace reports live from Orlando. HLN also airs "Justice for Caylee: A Nancy Grace Special" at 9 p.m. ET Saturday. And share your reaction to the verdict.
Tuesday's not guilty verdict on murder charges behind her, Anthony -- and the thousands riveted by every twist in the case -- now turn their attention to Thursday when the 25-year-old will learn her fate.

Freedom, book deals, analysts say CNN “Why can’t she make money off of her story?
But she still faces sentencing on four counts of lying to police regarding a missing person case. Many legal experts believe Anthony will be freed on time-served because she has already been jailed for about three years.
Because of her acquittal, so-called Son of Sam laws -- laws designed to keep criminals from earning money from their crimes -- do not apply, they say.

The seven-week long trial ended with 11 hours of deliberation when an Orange County, Florida, jury found Anthony not guilty of the most serious charges.
The jurors in the case declined to speak to the media as did four alternate jurors.
"The prosecution did not prove their case," Huekler said. "The big question that was not answered: How did Caylee die?"
Anthony's defense attorneys maintained that Caylee was not murdered at all. They said the child drowned in the Anthony's above-ground pool on July 16, and that Anthony and her father, George, panicked upon finding her there and covered up the death.

SC is wants to know source of Kerala temple treasure

The Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.Treasure estimated at over Rs 1 lakh crore has been found in five of the six chambers of the 16th century temple that have been opened so far on the instructions of the Supreme Court after a local lawyer alleged poor security and mismanagement by the trust that runs the temple.

The court proposed that a curator of a museum be appointed to preserve the treasure being unearthed from thetemple.
The Supreme Court has asked the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to examine the source and antiquity of the treasure unearthed from the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram.

The temple security has been handed over to the Quick Reaction Team after several precious articles valued upto Rs one lakh crore were found from the temple vaults during the inventory process.
Devaswom Minister V. S. Sivakumar reached the temple on Tuesday to review security arrangements at temple after the recovery of treasure trove.
The Kerala police had recommended a three-tier security system to safe-guard the newly discovered riches of the Padmanabhaswamy temple.
He was reacting to an interview given to a TV channel by retired high court judge C.S. Rajan who said that it was an amazing sight to see such a large quantity of jewels which one can never see in a lifetime and it was indeed a rare experience.
He also said that they have recorded all the contents of the five chambers in five books and hence it is going to be a record.
Speaking to IANS, a royal family source said that on Wednesday the case of the stay given by the apex court against the Kerala High Court ruling was coming up for hearing.
Sunderarajan has been given police protection after angry reactions from the public on why he went ahead with a petition to the apex court, which has led to the stock-taking. He said that he does not fear anything. God's own riches: Kerala's temple treasure amounts to a whopping Rs 1 lakh crore
The seven-member committee appointed by the apex court is expected to meet on Friday here again and Wednesday's case is going to be keenly watched.
Opening of the sealed secret chambers, on Supreme Court orders, which began on June 27, has so far revealed a large number of gold ornaments, gold and silver coins, stone studded crowns, idols and figurines inlaid with precious stones and jewels.
"Friday threw up far more surprises in the form of 17 kg of gold coins dating back to the East India Company period, 18 coins from Napolean's era, precious stones wrapped in silk bundles besides over 1,000 kg of gold in the form of coins and trinkets and a small elephant made of the yellow metal, sources said."

News for Roti and padyatra Rahul fights Maya

Rahul Gandhi started the Padyatra and Roti on Tuesday from Bhatta-Parsaul village.
Rahul Gandhi resumed his footmarch on Wednesday to make common cause with farmers in Uttar Pradesh over land acquisition after an overnight halt at this village where in slept in the open. The 41-year-old AICC general secretary is on the second day of his padayatra in Western UP, a footmarch billed as a campaign against Chief Minister Mayawati ahead of the Congress' proposed 'kisan mahapanchayat' in the neighbouring Aligarh district on July 9.

The Congress General Secretary made impromptu stops on Tuesday, interacting with villagers. The padyatra will culminate at the Congress' Kisan Mahapanchayat at Aligarh on Saturday.
On May 9, Gandhi had defied prohibitory orders, rode pillion on a motorcycle before daybreak and got arrested while protesting against the Uttar Pradesh government's land acquisition at Bhatta-Parsaul for the Yamuna Expressway linking Noida and Agra.
Rahul was referring to farmers losing land through the state government's land acquisition policy.

The Uttar Pradesh government has imposed Section 144 in the area.
Congress party leaders reacted strongly to the UP government's imposing Section 144 and said that if what Rahul was doing was a farce then the BSP should go to the people and clarify it.
Rahul said when "rich people sell their lands in Delhi, they get high market value. But, here land is being taken forcibly from farmers. While the market rate is above Rs 1,000, you are getting only Rs 200."
Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bhatta Parsaul on Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government has denied having any prior knowledge about the Congress general secretary's footmarch. "The state has not been told about the duration of his stay, we came to know about his visit only when he arrived in the state," a senior official said.
At Bhatta, Gandhi sat on a cot, addressed the villagers as Dada, Amma and Didi, and held a smiling child in a school uniform while he interacted with those affected in the May 7 violence when two villagers and two policemen were killed in a clash between the police against protesting farmers. Village elders reciprocated by calling him Beta.

Harry Potter Stars Cast A Spell On New York

The Daily Mail dredged up photos of a clearly intoxicated Radcliffe celebrating his 21st birthday party in St. Petersburg, Russia, last year, but says the paparazzi wasn't around most times when he was good and sloshed. "I really got away with that because there were many instances when a shot like that could have been taken."Though countryside skies and childhood fairytales promise a notion of their proximity and generosity, the truth is, stars rest in space at a distance beyond the mind's capacity to fully conceive. Steady fireballs burning lightyears away, it's more than their glow that make them the perfect metaphor for Hollywood's fame hierarchy: the sheer will it takes over so many thankless years to reach star status parallels the space flight required.
Daniel Radcliffe told GQ that there was a spell when he "became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff." He was lucky, he said, "because there were many instances when a paparazzi shot like that could have been taken," you know, after one too many butter beers.

Climate change U.K. to face colder winters

A new study into climate change has revealed that Brits may soon be forced to contend with much harsher winters, with as many as one in seven casting the country into sub-zero temperatures for pro-longed periods.
"The cluster of lower winter temperatures in the UK during the last three years had raised questions about the probability of more similar, or even colder, winters occurring in the future."Since as far back as 2009, when Republicans led the fight against cap-and-trade legislation in the Senate, the party as a whole has been reticent to say global warming is a problem. For instance, when voting on legislation in March that would ban the Environmental Protection Agency's power to regulate greenhouse gases, every Republican on the Energy and Commerce committee refused to acknowledge by vote that climate change exists and is caused by humans.

Florence Nightingale was a Victorian rebel

Born into a well-connected British family, Nightingale was expected to marry well and produce a bevy of children, the same as any wealthy young lady of that era. But Nightingale followed a different path, one that would put her at odds with her beloved family and one that she believed to be a calling from God. Florence Nightingale became a nurse.
In 1860, Nightingale saw another one of her passions realized—a training school for nurses. Housed at St. Thomas’ Hospital, the Nightingale Training School opened its doors to fifteen intrepid probationers. It was then modern trained nursing was born. While President Barack Obama and Democrats continue to pat themselves on the back for pushing through a health care law that still mystifies most Americans, the U.S. news media neglects to cover stories regarding the horrors of government-controlled medicine in other countries.

The International Committee of the Red Cross awarded 39 medals this year, to nurses and nursing aides from 18 nations. Medal recipients were active in public health, conflict situations, disaster situations and nursing education.

By that, I mean he actually made us look at competitive eating. In 2000, Kazutoyo Arai ate a record 25 hot dogs. In 2001, Kobayashi, in his rookie performance doubled that number. Things would never be the same.Instead he will compete from afar, eating alongside a live satellite feed of the contest on the roof of 230 FIFTH, a Manhattan bar. He’ll eat the very same Nathan’s hot dogs and buns, starting and finishing in time with the real competitors.

headline news-Group Five warns of large earnings drop

Governor John Kasich has signed the new two-year state budget into law that he says closes a historic budget gap without raising taxes. The first-term Republican put his pen to the spending blueprint last night. The budget, passed by the Ohio House and Senate this week largely along party lines, follows most of what Kasich wanted, including merit pay for teachers, expanded charter schools, and the elimination of the estate tax.
The US singer will be accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Jools Holland and his band will also perform alongside Sandie Shaw and Ruby Turner at the event on 11 September.

Ques: Is it true that you learnt sign language to communicate with one of the participants' mother?
Ans: Oh yes. This boy comes from a family where his parents and sister are deaf and dumb. But if you see this guy, he is such a confident, well brought up child. Coming from such a background, he could have easily taken the wrong path. I wanted to thank the mother for bringing him up so well. And I wanted to speak to her in her language. So I learnt the sign language so that I could compliment her personally.

Ques: Your next Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara... did it take you back to those carefree bachelor days?
Ans: We all huddled together and took the road trip, and it felt like we three friends are actually taking the road trip, with a camera crew just filming us. Not really the bachelor kind of freedom, but it inspires me to take more road trips. Probably, the next one with my family. In fact, Sussanne was so excited about this concept. She was the one who loved the script and got me to sign this film.

Ques: And you also sing in the film...
Ans: Well, I was tricked. They didn't tell me that they are going to record the song. They said it is just rehearsals and while I was thinking I am rehearsing the song, they recorded a good part of it and used it in the film.
