The Delhi police arrest Baba Ramdev at the Ram Lila ground. A large number of police personnel tonight descended at the venue where Baba Ramdev was on a hunger-strike demanding action on blackmoney.
Police sources say the order was issued after Baba Ramdev used the Ramlila Ground for staging a hunger strike against corruption instead of a yoga camp.
"Ramdev was intercepted while he was masquerading as a woman at around 4 in the morning. Police action was very limited. A case has been registered against some persons who attacked police personnel on duty.
Baba Ramdev was flown to Dehradun after Delhi Police swooped down on the yoga guru a little past midnight and detained him after firing tear gas shells and resorting to lathicharge on his supporters to end his day-old indefinite hunger strike on black money issue.
Hundreds of personal police broke into the place of Baba Ramdev protest here shortly after midnight on Saturday and displaced by the guru yoga, less than a day later began a strike of indefinite hunger against corruption.
The ham-handed handling of Baba Ramdev's movement against foreign bank accounts of Indian nationals by the government does not speak well either of the government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] or of the Congress headed by Sonia Gandhi [ Images ] or of the senior bureaucracy advising the PM.
"The Baba was hiding in a saree of his female devotees when we arrested him at 4.15 am."
