Anna Hazare met CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat today, and will meet UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi tomorrow. The Gandhian activist has been in Delhi since Monday meeting leaders of political parties - amongst them Ajit Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, and senior BJP leader LK Advani - before a crucial all-party meet on July 3 that will discuss the draft for the Lokpal bill.
Anna Hazare is busy with his road show. He is spending his time meeting one political party after another.
Civil society activists Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi called on Karat this morning at CPI(M) headquarters to discuss the Lokpal Bill and to inform him about Team Anna's views on the proposed legislation.
The Lokpal Bill, which is meant to check corruption within politicians and bureaucrats, was being drafted for the first time by a committee that included non-elected activists like Mr Hazare. The joint effort between the government and these activists ended in chaos - ministers on the committee have delivered one draft of the Bill, Team Anna has prepared another.
Anna Hazare, along with social activists Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi, will meet Sonia Gandhi on June 30. The team is also expected to meet senior BJP leader L.K. Advani.
