Cass McCombs rolled into our Lawn Party on Thursday with a stellar new set of music from his upcoming album Wit's End, due out next month on Domino. The lazy, dusty songs were the perfect tonic for a hot Texas afternoon, and the crowd greeted each tune like an old friend, and drank in the warm, wonderful vibes rippling off the stage.

Her excellent Epic album found the singer-songwriter backed by a dynamic rock band who took her aching, sun-drenched songs to a whole new level On the Hill Stage Thursday, Sharon thanked her band for teaching her to rock, and the churning guitars and nuanced rhythm section gave Sharon and her soulful and sincere songs power and punch that convinced hundreds of adoring fans and converted many new ones.
